Sliding jigging is an effective way to ice fish for perch, and also other fish, in winter. It combines the efficiency of traditional vertical jigging, mormyshka, and tapping jigging into one package.

Väinö Lightweight sliding jig is a versatile and effective lure for winter fishing. The core of the jig's body is made from special metal, combined with a stainless steel core wire. Around the core, a plastic body is molded. The lightweight body floats in a really enticing and tempting way.

The idea of the sliding jig is that the jig is attached to a fluorocarbon leader, whose distance from the mormyshka can be adjusted by sliding it along the line. Silicone tube pieces on both sides of the body lock it in the desired position. At the end of the fluorocarbon, there's an enticing mormyshka.

Väinö Lightweight sliding jigs are available in three different lengths (65mm, 85mm, and 105mm) and a really wide color range.

Erälehden comments on Väinö lightweight sliding jigs in issue 01/2024

"The Väinö lightweight sliding jig combines two recent trend features into one package: the sliding jig feature and the lightweight design. On top of the metallic core, there's a generous layer of plastic, so even the 105mm jig weighs only 11 grams. Despite its lightness, Väinö dives pretty nimbly and straight, but with sharp twitches, you can also make it flutter sideways. The package includes a gold mormyshka tied to a fluorocarbon tippet, and the tippet even has the necessary silicone tube pieces pre-threaded for attaching the jig. It's worth trying especially for perch fishing."

Features:

  • Three different sizes: 65mm, 85mm, and 105mm
  • Mormyshka at the end of the fluorocarbon
  • The jig's core is special metal, with a lightweight plastic body molded around it
  • Adjust the jig's distance from the mormyshka by sliding it along the fluorocarbon line
  • Silicone tube pieces lock the jig body at the desired distance from the mormyshka
  • Fluorocarbon is nearly invisible in water as a leader material that doesn't interfere with the jig's enticing floating motion
  • If you want, you can easily swap the tippet end for a different mormyshka or a regular hook.
