A very popular lure, especially in competitive trolling, as a so-called "locomotive lure". It dives deep and displaces a lot of water, so it "radiates" far and attracts zander and pike from a distance to the lure. It doesn't get snagged easily thanks to its large lip, which hits obstacles first.
When used for casting, it's a good option for raking deep areas. If the lure hits the bottom, stop reeling, and the lure will start to rise from the bottom towards the surface. This technique, reminiscent of reverse jigging, is devastatingly effective. On flat clay bottoms, it's advisable to let the lure "plow" the bottom intentionally, which also entices zander to strike.
