Leech works great for rainbow trout, but also excellently for brown trout, grayling, and perch, and even pike get confused by its enticing swim.
It's best to swim the Leech gently with a rocking motion so the tail sparkles and moves lively.
Every now and then, give a jerk like in balance jigging, and the Leech will dart forward and then curve back. Leech works best on thin line, like 0.16 - 0.18mm monofilament such as Väinö Enigma.
That way, its swimming action is definitely good.
