OPERATING PRINCIPLE

All toilet waste and paper go into one tank from the porcelain seat, where solid waste separates from liquid with the help of a special double bottom. This enables composting to begin during use. An exception is the separating seat, from which urine is directed to a separate collection already from the seat.

Green Toilet is based on batch composting, which means using a replacement tank. When the tank in use fills up, it is replaced with a new tank. The full tank is covered with a lid and moved to a suitable place for post-composting at leisure, until it is ready as nutrient-rich soil (6-18 months depending on conditions).

When the Green Toilet Lux Cassette toilet fills up, you can immediately replace it with an empty replacement cassette and leave the full cassette outside to compost at leisure. This way, dry toilet maintenance is always easy, quick, and clean. If the dry toilet has multiple users and/or is in year-round use, it may be necessary to prepare for toilet maintenance with several replacement cassettes. Alternatively, you can empty the full cassette into a separate compost bin designed for toilet waste, in which case replacement cassettes are not needed.

Required height under the toilet space

The Green Toilet Lux product family offers different sized composting options. Generally, the choice is guided by the height of the space under the toilet floor. Below is a table of the required maintenance space height. For maintenance, it would be good if the toilet were near an outer wall, so that the composter is easily accessible.

Since composting is at its best when there is a large amount of compost mass, the largest possible tank that can be placed under the floor should always be chosen as a starting point.

MAINTENANCE

During use, bulking material is added to the Green Toilet LUX, either about 1-2 dl after each use or as a separate maintenance operation, a larger amount of about 5-10 liters once or twice a week.

When the compost tank fills up, it is replaced with an empty replacement cassette. The full composter can then be left to compost at leisure. Alternatively, you can empty the full cassette into a separate compost bin designed for toilet waste, in which case a replacement cassette may not be needed.

OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES

If you want to increase capacity or extend maintenance intervals, a larger, 150-liter cassette can be chosen for the package.

If there is ample space under the toilet area, we recommend the wheeled Green Toilet Lux 120 or 330 packages to ensure the longest possible maintenance interval.
