The more powerful 2.0 Aapo is now here!
Kalastajan Kanavan's Aapo perch rod has been one of Finland's best-selling perch rods in recent years. Now the rod is being updated to be even better. The name will continue to be the familiar and safe Aapo, but you can recognize the new product by the 2.0 marking added to the end.
What is Aapo 2.0 suitable for?
The rod is designed especially for jigging perch, but it is also suitable for other perch casting lures, such as spinners, small wobblers and even spintails. The rod is excellently balanced and light to use. Its sensitive tip catches and holds perch well all the way to the boat. There is power in the bottom part, so you can even catch kilo-class perch with this rod. It is also possible to catch a larger pike, but in this case you should remember to be patient and follow the movements of the fish. The rod is designed for a 1000-2000-class reel.
How does the new Aapo differ from the original?
In the new Aapo 2.0, the blank has been slightly stiffened, which provides more casting distance and more accurate casting, especially at the top of the lure weight. The new reel seat is ideal for hands of different sizes. The rod is blacker in color than before, but the recognizable Kalastajan Kanavan turquoise has been retained at the tip. The rod's butt and rear handle have also been redesigned. The Eva handle gives you a really comfortable grip and the rod doesn't rattle on the boat floors.
The rod is still great for inexperienced fishermen and as a first rod for children and young people, but after the changes, the rod will certainly fit more experienced fishermen.

Kela's choice for Aapo
The right reel for Aapo is a 1000-2000 class spinning reel, such as Daiwan Ninja, Exceler, Fuego or Caldia.
Remember the following tips and your rod will stay in good condition for years:
-
- Always transport the reel in a rod sleeve. When it doesn't get dents, it won't break so easily. Also loosen the reel brake during transport.
- Never reel a fish into the tip of the rod. When the fish is on the end of the line, leave the line out by the length of the rod. This way, by lifting the tip of the rod up, you can bring the fish next to the boat and net it easily. You can lift a smaller perch (under 35 cm) into the boat with the rod.
- Always walk with the rod so that the lure is on the lure loop and the rod is upright with the tip of the rod pointing towards the sky (this applies especially to children and young people.)
- Do not pull the line straight down from the tip of the rod when you are putting the lure on the lure loop, but open the reel handle and let the line free from the reel, then put the lure on the lure loop and tighten the line by turning the crank.
- If the lure stays on the bottom, pull the line tight and try to shoot the lure off with the line. If that doesn't work, pull the lure off the bottom so that the rod remains straight and unbent in relation to the line. Put your hand on the reel so that the reel doesn't spin and pull towards you. When the line does the work, it will hold, no pulling should be done free or against the reel.
- You can't command a big pike with a perch rod, so follow the pike's movements with your rod. If the fish goes under the boat, push the tip of the rod into the water, give the fish enough line. You should never lift a pike with a rod.
