Lighter on the Ice: Introducing the Väinö 200 mm Composite Ice Auger
A winter angler’s best companion is a tool that makes drilling holes quick, effortless, and as light as possible. When the thick ice glistens and the freezing wind howls, no one wants to waste their energy turning a heavy ice auger or carrying heavy gear.
The Väinö 200 mm composite ice auger (product code 909-P140) meets this need—a modern auger designed specifically for use with a cordless drill.
Why choose a composite drill bit over a steel one?
Traditional steel augers are reliable, but they are heavy and can accumulate water that freezes in severe cold. The Väinö composite auger combines lightness and durability:
Weighs only 2.8 kg: Thanks to its lightweight composite frame, the auger is easy to carry along on even long ice fishing trips and in a sled.
Just over 200 mm (8") in diameter: Provides a sufficiently spacious opening that even larger zander, pike, and thick whitefish can swim up through without feeling cramped.
Fits directly onto a cordless drill: The ice drill is designed to harness the drill's torque. It drills through even thick ice effortlessly in just a few seconds.
Designed with user comfort and safety as top priorities
The Väinö composite drill has been designed with a special focus on ergonomics and safety:
Adjustable shaft: The drilling length can be easily adjusted between 95 and 130 cm. This ensures a comfortable drilling position on ice of various thicknesses and for anglers of all sizes.
Standard safety features: The package includes a safety disc (which prevents the auger from falling into the hole if it comes loose from the chuck) as well as durable steel blades and a blade guard for safe transport and storage.
